Healthy Hair Remedies

Who doesn't envy that shiny and silky hair in the shampoo commercials? If you have dry or dull hair, these commercials are a constant reminder of your unhappiness with your hair. If you are one of those people in a constant battle for healthy hair, there are a variety of remedies you can use to achieve victory. Whether you have dull hair, weak hair, dry hair or oily hair, here are some different steps you can take to improve the health of your hair.
  1. Diet

    • A healthy diet can be the key to achieving healthy hair. Make sure that your diet consists of foods with enough protein and fatty acids in them. Fatty acids are an important factor to having healthy, strong, and shiny hair. If your hair is dry, add vitamin E to your diet. If you have oily hair, you should try to avoid fried foods, dairy, and red meat. You should eat grilled foods, yogurt and green leafy vegetables, to get rid of oily hair. For general promotion of healthy hair, you should eat a balanced diet, rich in minerals and nutrients.

    Exercise

    • Aerobic activity on a daily basis can promote healthy hair, by improving overall circulation. Practicing yoga can contribute to healthy hair as well. Yoga relieves the stress that can lead to hair loss. Some of the poses that require inversion can also increase scalp circulation.

    Home Remedies

    • There are some home remedies for healthy hair. You can find items in your kitchen that will improve the health of your hair. The following items can make your hair strong, shiny, and moisturized.

    For Weak Hair

    • To strengthen weak hair, use one of these home remedies. Mix an egg in with your conditioner (1 egg, 2 cups conditioner), apply it to your dry hair and let it sit for a half hour. Then wash your hair as you normally would. You can also try using mayonnaise to strengthen your hair. Put ½ cup of natural mayonnaise on your hair, and then rinse.

    For Dull Hair

    • To add shine to your hair, add a spoonful of honey to your conditioner. Apply it to your hair, and let it sit for twenty minutes before rinsing out. Another remedy for shine, is to add a teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo.

    For Dry or Oily Hair

    • For dry hair, pour 1/4 cup of warm coconut oil on your scalp and hair. Let it sit for a half hour, and then follow up with your normal washing. Another home remedy for dry hair is adding olive oil to your conditioner. These remedies will add moisture and smoothness to your hair.
A solution for oily hair, is to brush cornstarch onto your scalp and the roots of your hair. Let the cornstarch soak up the oils for ten minutes, and then brush it out.

    Herbal Remedies
