How to Alleviate Allergies With Local Honey

When I first moved to our new home I spent the first two weeks with an allergy attack. One of the things I did to alleviate it was to start eating honey--but not just any honey. Local honey is a good part of a complete holistic allergy plan because it helps your body get used to the various types of pollen in your area and works in much the same way as a vaccine. By exposing your body to small amounts of a pollen, it can get used to it and not consider the pollen an invader. When the body considers pollen to be invading the body, that's when the allergy symptoms start to arise. The following tips should get you started on your path to allergy relief with local honey.

Buy local honey right from the beekeeper at a farm or farmers market--that's the best way. If there are none in your area, check your local markets for honey from local sources. Make sure the honey is made within a 30-mile radius of where you live.

Take a teaspoon or so a day, which should be more than enough. Start taking it at least a month before allergy season, or just take it throughout the year.

Round out your honey program with 2 to 3 cups of green tea a day and 500 mg. of Vitamin C daily. This works for me--and should get your allergies under control in no time.
