How to Cease Smoking With Herbs
Quitting a tobacco habit is never easy, but herbs can help you to do this in one month’s time. The most important part in kicking the habit is your mental attitude; you must really want to quit in order to succeed. It just won’t work if you are attempting to do it for someone else. Even though you might agree with their concern for your health, and even though you know smoking is not good for you, the desire has to come from within you. Quitting “cold turkey” is very difficult, but with an herbal smoking blend, you can slowly decrease your consumption of tobacco, based on the formula presented here. This “recipe” provides a good substitute for ciggies, because part of successfully quitting includes getting over the physical act of smoking--taking a cigarette out of the pack, lighting it up, inhaling the first blast of hot smoke, and then stubbing it out when you’re done. You can still do all those things, but with herbs that are actually good for healing your poor lungs. Then you can gradually reduce your use of the herbal formula and you will be tobacco free.Things You'll Need

1
Purchase dried herbs in bulk at your local natural foods store or order them online. Be sure all herbs are “cut and sifted” rather than powdered, as this method of preparation is the best for making this blend smoke well.

In a large bowl, mix 4 cups coltsfoot, 1 cup mullein, 1 cup mugwort, 2 TB licorice root, 2 TB rosemary. If you like a minty flavor you can also add ½ cup peppermint. This will make a good amount of smoking blend—you will not have to blend up another batch right away if you make a large quantity.

3
Store your smoking blend in a large sealed jar or locking plastic bag.

If you find that you are feeling tense, angry or nervous, consider taking valerian root capsules or tincture as needed. Valerian is available at natural foods stores and is safe to use on an occasional basis. Another calming herb that is easy to find is chamomile. Teabags that contain chamomile are readily available at regular grocery stores and natural foods stores.
