How to Use Chamomile to Treat a Fever
Chamomile is a flowering plant that's been used for centuries to treat conditions as varied as insomnia, diarrhea and even hair loss. Chamomile is also an excellent way to relieve many of the symptoms associated with colds, including fever.Things You'll Need
- Large cooking pot with lid
- Dried chamomile flowers
- Liquid chamomile extract
- Lavender extract
- Dried lavender
- Almond oil
- Dried mint
- Honey (optional)
- Sugar (optional)
- Lemon (optional)
- Colander

Use a Chamomile Steam Treatment

Boil a large pot of water.

Add a handful of dried chamomile leaves. You can also use a few drops of liquid chamomile extract.

Add other herbal remedies, such as drops of lavender extract or almond oil for extra fragrance.

Cover the pot and simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove the lid.

Hold your head over the open pot so that the discharged steam will rise directly into your face.

Draw slow, deep breaths. Inhale the chamomile steam. This will relieve many of the symptoms associated with cold and fever.

Go directly to sleep. The chamomile treatment will greatly increase your ability to sleep through your fever, allowing your body plenty of time to fight the infection naturally and restore your temperature to normal.
Use Chamomile Tea Before Bed

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.

Mix 1 tsp. each of dried chamomile, lavender and mint leaves.

Remove the pot of water from the heat.

Dump your mixture of herbs into the water.

Allow the herbs to soak for 5 minutes.

Pour the water through a colander to remove all the herbs. You can discard the herbs at this point.

Allow the water to cool until it's a comfortable temperature to drink. Add honey, sugar or lemon to sweeten the chamomile tea. It's not necessary, but it may substantially improve the taste.

Take advantage of chamomile tea's relaxing power by going to bed. The best way to fight infections that cause fever is to sleep. Your body's own natural immune system will fight the sickness.
