Take vitamins for energy. The vitamins themselves don't provide the energy, but they help your body make better use of the energy in food. You may be very low in the B vitamins, specifically B12.

Research supplements. There are several that can help. Iodine, zinc and copper are all recognized thyroid boosters. Magnesium supports the thyroid, thus helping you lose weight. L-carnitine and Coenzyme Q-10 may be helpful as well. Consider a supplement that combines several of these herbs to provide complete thyroid gland nourishment.

Talk to your doctor about thyroid medication. There are several options, such as thyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3).

Examine your eating habits. If you're eating too many of the bad (processed) carbohydrates, your energy will suffer. You need to eat more good carbs, as in complex carbohydrates with lots of fiber, like whole grain bread. Center your diet around protein, vegetables, complex carbs, fruit and some good fat.
