What Is Liquid Chlorophyll Good For?

In 1913, Richard Willstatter, a German chemist, discovered the functions of liquid chlorophyll. Willstatter found that the chlorophyll molecule was very similar to hemoglobin, with the central difference being magnesium replacing the iron in hemoglobin. Since this discovery, chlorophyll has been found to have a vast array of health benefits for the human body. A small amount of this important elixir can be obtained by eating green leafy vegetables. However, some people choose to drink small amounts in liquid form to alleviate its potency being cooked out.

  1. Red Blood Cell Regeneration

    • Chlorophyll works much the same as hemoglobin does within the body because chlorophyll and hemoglobin have nearly identical molecular structures.     • Liquid chlorophyll has been shown to act as an anticarcinogenic by "inhibiting the metabolism of procarcinogens within the body and decreasing the carcinogen's ability to bind and damage DNA," according to the Healthcare Information Directory. Liquid chlorophyll's protection against carcinogens extends to airborne pollution, fungus-laden foods and toxins in meat products.

    Chelation of Heavy Metals

    • Liquid chlorophyll is one of the most powerful chelates in nature. Chelation is the ability of an agent to bind with heavy metals within the body and remove them from the system. Metals are consumed by a person in a variety of different ways; one is ingesting mercury by eating certain fish. Liquid chlorophyll binds with the toxic heavy metal mercury through the process of chelation and removes it from the body.

    Bad Breath

    • Liquid chlorophyll is a remedy for bad breath. It has been used for years as an additive to a dog's water to aid in reducing the bad smells that often reside in dog's breath. In humans, liquid chlorophyll acts as both a deodorizer in the mouth and aids in maintaining a healthy digestive tract.
