How to Cleanse Your Nose

Nasal irrigation is an effective method of relieving nasal congestion. According to Melissa Pynnonen, M.D., nasal irrigation is one of the best ways to relieve nasal irritation. Cleansing your nose involves rinsing the nasal passages with a solution, such as saltwater. Either a squeeze bottle or device such as a neti-pot works well. If you have allergies, sinusitis or other irritation, cleansing your nose can help relieve those problems.

Pour the same ingredients into a neti-pot instead. This is another option to use to cleanse your nose. A neti-pot is a designated container made for cleaning the nasal cavity. Tilt your head over a sink and put the spout in the nostril and pour it in. Repeat the same on the other nostril.
