Holistic Training From Home

A holistic healer’s philosophy is that physical symptoms of illness and disease can be traced to an imbalance somewhere in the body’s natural rhythms. According to the Guide To Health Care Schools website, the field of holistic health care “encompasses Chinese medicine, chiropractor, herbalism, massage, nutrition, homeopathy and midwifery. Salaries normally range from $25,000 to $75,000.” Online degrees are available in many holistic fields.
  1. History

    • Colleges and institutes offering holistic training have been teaching this sort of program for many years. Clayton College of Natural Health started as an herb company in the 1980s. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition began 20 years ago with a single classroom filled with students who had a similar vision. The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts has been operating for a little over seven years.

    Reasons

    • With holistic training from home, you can add to an existing health care practice, change careers or simply learn healthy practices for yourself and your family. The health movement is seen in every part of our society. Schools are banning items like soda that were once considered a normal part of lunch. Eating well was once considered an alternative choice, and has since become a part of the mainstream. Today people are looking outside of the realms of traditional medicine.

    Programs

    • Many of the colleges and institutes that offer certification or degrees in holistic health have online programs. Students can earn a degree to be a Holistic Health Care Practitioner in as little as 18 months to two years. Southwest Institute of Healing Arts has certificate programs for Life Coaching, which can be earned in three months full-time and five months part-time. Some programs allow the student to take a single class that can be completed in as little as four weeks. Others require a complete curriculum to be completed.

    Flexibility

    • In the holistic health field, graduates can choose to work part-time, while working at a current job. It’s a completely accepted option in this field of work. The flexibility of the field means starting a part-time practice is a feasible option. The graduate can choose to gradually grow his practice at his own pace. Eventually, if desired, the graduate can work into a full-time practice.

    Location and Careers

    • A holistic health graduate might find himself working in one of the following settings: clinical setting, gym, yoga studio, day spa, natural food store, restaurant, corporation, school or library. Graduates are often invited to work in medical offices and chiropractic clinics. Graduates might choose to be a health coach, spa manager, bodywork practitioner, herbalist, life coach or health coach.
