Develop creative associations with the material or subject matter you are trying to learn. For example, if you are trying to improve your memory to remember the names of business colleagues, think of an animal or other everyday item that sounds like the name.

    • 2

Play brain games. Many stores now sell brain game books, and there are varieties of brain games available online. Games that focus on improving your memory will stimulate and exercise your brain differently than your routine ways of thinking.

    • 3

Work on improving your memory daily. It can be difficult to maintain a focus for an extended period of time, so practice memory building for an hour or so as often as you can. Do not become frustrated if you struggle in the beginning or it's hard to set aside time to work on your memory. Instead, do the best you can with the time you do have available.

Continue or begin an exercise program, and aim for at least seven or eight hours of sleep each night. Exercising helps keep your mind sharp and provides you with adequate energy and stamina. Sleep is just as important, because your mind needs proper rest each night to work at its full capacity.
