Oil Vinegar Ring Worm Treatment

Ringworm, despite its name, is not caused by a worm but by a fungus. The rash appears on your skin in the form of a circle with another smaller red circle in the center. Fortunately, you can catch only a few fungal infections via skin contact, but if you do get a fungal infection, it can be highly contagious and should be immediately treated.
  1. Vinegar Patches

    • One of the simplest home remedies you can use to treat ringworm is the vinegar patch. Just soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, use medical tape to secure it over the top of your ringworm patch, and let it sit overnight. Repeat this process nightly until the ringworm disappears.

    Melaleuca Oil (Tea Tree Oil)

    • Melaleuca oil, also commonly referred to as tea tree oil, is believed to have powerful antiseptic and antifungal properties. Tea tree oil, while extremely effective at treating ringworm, can irritate the skin if applied directly. You need to add 2 to 3 drops of tea tree oil to a teaspoon of carrier oil (olive oil, grapeseed oil, etc) and then rub it into the ringworm patch area. Repeat this treatment up to three times per day for the best results.

    Vinegar & Oil Combination

    • Those looking for holistic remedies for ringworm have also used a combination of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and essential oils. Gather 1 tablespoon of ACV, 1 teaspoon of natural aloe vera gel, 5 drops of myrrh essential oil, and 5 drops of goldenseal essential oil.

Mix all the ingredients together, blending them gently with a whisk to ensure they don't separate. Pour the completed mixture over the ringworm patch, wait about 15 minutes, and then rinse the oil off with warm water. You can repeat this process up to two times per day until the ringworm infection clears.

This combination may seem a bit out of the ordinary, but the ingredients are actually quite potent. Goldenseal has long been used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions, including eczema, boils, and even internal ailments. Goldenseal root is believed to have very strong antibacterial and antifungal properties, perfect for treating ringworm.

Myrrh oil is another potent natural oil, believed to have antifungal, antiviral, and astringent properties. Myrrh also has anti-inflammatory properties that help keep any swelling, pain, or itching associated with your ringworm at bay.

Pregnant women should avoid both myrrh and goldenseal.
