1
Perform physical activities that test your brain function. This includes games that utilize your hand-eye coordination as well as timing and anything you cannot do without thinking about it. Play tennis, basketball or even Frisbee and ping-pong.
-
2
Do word games and puzzles on a regular basis. Get the crossword out of your local paper weekly or daily. Buy a Sudoku puzzle book or electronic game to do whenever you have a spare moment.
-
3
Make your own memory game by placing items around the house and trying to find them the next day or week by remembering where you put them. Have fun by trying something new like riddles.
-
4
Do brain games which exercise all five cognitive areas: memory (trivia), language (crossword), executive function (Sudoku), motor function (Gold Miner Vegas) and visual/spatial skills (checkers). Find these games online for free or a cost, or purchase them to have on hand.

5
Play mental games at least once a week to keep up current mental function. Better yet play games on a daily basis to increase your memory and brain function.
