Homemade Massage Lotion

Massage is an ancient art form and means of holistic medicine that has long been used to treat various physical conditions, as well as to aid in general relaxation. You can buy massage oils from various spa supply companies, or you can save yourself this expense by making your own massage lotion. Making a homemade massage lotion will yield a product that will make massages more comfortable by reducing friction between the hands and the skin.

Instructions

    • 1

Place 1 1/2 cups of aloe gel, 1 1/2 teaspoons of lanolin and 1 1/2 teaspoons of vitamin E oil into a blender. Blend for about one minute.

    • 2

Place 1/3 cup of virgin coconut oil and one ounce of pure beeswax into a glass bowl. Heat the ingredients in the microwave on high power for about 30 seconds. Stir and heat for another 30 seconds. The ingredients should be completely melted. If not, heat in small increments until melted.

    • 3

Stir 3/4 cup of camelia oil into the melted ingredients in the glass bowl.

    • 4

Pour the contents of the glass bowl into the blender slowly. Blend on low until the oils become thick and white. This should take only a minute or so, so blend in short increments to avoid over-blending.

    • 5

Add 2 tablespoons of lavender powder and 1 1/2 teaspoons of chamomile powder to the blender and mix for a few seconds on low to distribute.

    • 6

Pour the mixture from the blender into small jars or containers while the mixture is still warm. The lotion will cool and thicken in the containers.
