Home Remedies for Itching in the Middle Ear
-
Cotton Swabs
-
Regular cleaning of the inner ear reduces earwax and leads to the creation of a moderately moisturized inner ear. A regular cleaning of the ear with a cotton swab will reduce allergens, clear the ear of flaked skin and keep the ear free of obstruction.
Vegetable Oil
-
Should the ear become overly dry, resulting in an itching middle ear, a regular application of vegetable oil is also a good home remedy. Simply dip a cotton swab in vegetable oil and gently lubricate the ear. The skin around the ear opening will become moisturized, preventing the creation of dry, flaky skin.
Humidifier
-
A good way to moisturize the ear without inserting anything into the actual appendage is by using a home humidifier. Simply turn on the humidifier at night when you sleep to keep the air nicely moisturized. This will prevent dry, itchy middle ears.
Allergy Medication
-
Excessive itching can be a sign of irritation due to seasonal allergies. Should an allergen be the cause of your itching middle ear, take an over-the-counter allergy supplement. This will reduce the irritation of an itchy middle ear and help prevent its onset.
