Homeopathic Remedies for Strep B in Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time in which your body is changing. Your immune system is working to protect both you and your baby from illnesses. Even still, pregnant women are susceptible to all different types of illnesses. Although strep B is something that any women might develop, it is especially dangerous for a pregnant woman. It can lead to high fevers, infections and other issues that might be harmful for you or your baby. It is important to find the right remedy for strep B in pregnancy. Catherine Crowley, certified nurse midwife at Health Partners in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, gives advice.
  1. Homeopathic Remedies

    • Homeopathic remedies for strep B include taking bee propolis capsules 3 to 4 times per day or an echinacea root douche, which can be found at any drugstore.

Crowley says you can safely try homeopathic remedies such as these for up to three or four days after you notice inflammation, itchiness and soreness in the vagina.

    Seeing a Doctor

    • Try homeopathic remedies for no more than a day if you have other symptoms of strep B, including fever. Although homeopathic remedies are sometimes useful, Crowley states that the longer you wait to treat strep, the greater chance of serious infection, which can harm your baby. Mothers who have strep B during pregnancy are likely to transfer the infection to their babies, and babies can develop more serious infections. You also have a greater chance of premature delivery or ruptured membranes if you have an uncontrolled bout of strep B.

Strep B cannot be eradicated with homeopathic remedies, Crowely cautions, and trying them for too long can be very dangerous.

See your doctor as soon as possible, even if your homeopathic remedy for strep has made you feel better. Crowley cautions that there could still be dangers to you or your unborn baby, and it is always best to be safe.
