How to Stop a Productive Cough

A productive cough, while helpful for your body at times, can still become just as annoying and painful as a cough that comes along with a cold. There are so many different remedies out there to stop a cough, many of which work just fine, but the healthiest ones are organic, homeopathic remedies. Instructions

  1. Ginger

    • 1

Thinly slice fresh ginger, making sure you only cut the amount you need at the present moment. You do not want to slice too much and use it later, as its potency will lessen. Two or three thin slices will do fine.

    • 2

Place the two or three slices into your mouth when you feel the urge to cough. Even though it is a productive cough, it can still be a little annoying, especially at night when you are trying to sleep. As you chew the ginger, healing enzymes are released into your saliva where they travel down to the source of the cough.

    • 3

Use as much ginger as you need since each slice is packed with vitamins and nutrients that will not only aid in stopping a cough, but will help with colds.

    Garlic

    • 4

Mince about a half pound of garlic and place into a quart jar that has a lid accessible to it.

    • 5

Completely cover the garlic with your favorite honey. The honey will act as a lubricant to help soothe your throat.

    • 6

Cover the jar with its lid and place into your refrigerator to marinate for 24 hours.

    • 7

Take a teaspoon of the mixture whenever you feel the urge to cough and that urge will melt away as the healing qualities of the garlic are released into your throat.
