Homeopathic Cancer Treatment

Homeopathy is based on the idea that large doses of a substance cause a condition and small doses of that same substance can cure it. Some medical professionals may use homeopathic cancer treatments with conventional medical approaches.

Arsenicum Album

• Arsenicum album comes from the element of arsenic, and although it's poisonous in its pure from, arsenicum album is used to treat chronic diseases and serious ailments, including cancer in its early stages. Most cancer patients ingest arsenicum album by putting drops into hot tea or other drink. The substance is intended to release tension and fear held in the nervous systems, adrenals and kidneys to help detoxify the body of heavy metal arsenic. When taken in the proper doses, there are no side effects. Homeopathic practitioners say the substance can stop tumor growth and empower the immune system to combat cancer.

Approaches

• One of the most widely used homeopathic approaches for cancer is to target the specific tumor. A homeopathic practitioner selects a remedy for the tumor itself. For example, Conium maculatum, also called hemlock, is intended for hard, immovable tumors that develop slowly. A practitioner injects this remedy into the tumor site to stimulate a more aggressive response.

  Another approach is called the classical approach, in which a practitioner assesses a patient's physical, emotional and mental symptoms. This helps to understand the energy that underlies the tumor. The practitioner will then develop a detoxification remedy to eliminate the malignant tumor.

Risks

• Although homeopathic remedies reportedly cause no harmful side effects, no systematic research has established whether this approach is effective. The real risk comes if homeopathic methods are used instead of conventional medical treatments, such as surgery, radiation or chemotherapy.
