Homeopathic Uses of Vinegar
For natural health remedies, choose raw apple cider vinegar (ACV). While its contemporaries are helpful for cleaning (white vinegar) or salad dressing (red wine vinegar), they lack the active enzymes and nutrients present within unpasteurized, raw, unfiltered ACV.-
pH Balance
-
Two tsp. twice a day are believed to maintain healthy pH levels within the body. Balanced pH protects against heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion. Reduce the strong taste by adding 1 to 2 tsp. raw honey and 8 oz. filtered water.
Skin Remedies
-
A powerful antifungal, ACV effectively treats athlete's foot, acne, nail fungus and eczema. Apply directly with a cotton ball, add to baths or combine with 2 to 3 drops antibacterial tea tree oil.
Halitosis
-
Make a vinegar mouthwash by gargling 1/2 tbsp. with water.
Head Lice
-
Soak the head for five hours in olive and lavender oils (3:1 ratio) with a rinse of 1 tbsp. ACV in 1 cup water to help separate nits from hair. Comb carefully and follow with a natural shampoo.
Considerations
-
ACV is created by a process of double-fermentation: apple juice is converted to alcohol, then to vinegar. Bottles labeled "with the mother," refer to the beneficial bacteria formed during the fermentation process, seen as strands or cloudiness in the liquid.
