Homeopathic Callus Treatments

Calluses, scientifically referred to as hyperkeratosis, are thick, rough patches of skin. They form when a section of skin, most commonly on the feet, is exposed to consistent pressure and rubbing. Calluses are unsightly and can be quite painful. The most common homeopathic remedies for calluses are agaricus muscarius, hecla lava and silicea.
  1. Agaricus muscarius

    • Agaricus muscarius is a popular homeopathic remedy for calluses. It is derived from mushroom fungus and must be highly diluted before being orally ingested. Speak to an experienced homeopathic medicine practitioner or licensed physician before using Agaricus muscarius to treat calluses. When taken in excess or consumed raw without dilution, Agaricus muscarius is highly toxic and can be life threatening. Agaricus muscarius ostensibly helps restore equilibrium to the nervous system, thereby reducing redness and swelling at the callus site. It also acts as an intoxicant to the brain, making it a natural pain killer.

    Hecla lava

    • Hecla lava is a homeopathic remedy made from the volcanic ash of Mount Hecla in Iceland. It comes bottled in pellet form and most homeopathic medicine practitioners recommend taking three pellets orally each day to treat calluses. Hecla lava purportedly reduces swelling induced by calluses.

    Silicea

    • Silicea is a homeopathic remedy for cracked and inflamed skin. It also acts as a nerve protector and natural painkiller. Silicea comes from the mineral silica and, like hecla lava, is typically sold in a bottle with pellets. The standard dosage of silicea for treating calluses is three pellets per day. However, as with all homeopathic remedies, it is highly advisable to seek the advice of a medical professional before commencing silicea treatment for calluses.
