Homeopathic Liver Treatments

The liver's ability to filter out many potentially toxic substances, before they can do harm, is hinged on it functioning properly. Homeopathic remedies can help many common liver and liver-related problems such as jaundice, gallstones and hepatitis. It is derived from a tree native to the United States and is also more commonly referred to as whitefringe tree.

    Ammonium Muriaticum and Taraxacum

    • A homeopath may recommend the remedy ammonium muriaticum for liver problems if there is accompanying pain described as pinching or shooting. Ammonium muriaticum, which is a mineral, is more commonly referred to as ammonium chloride. For a hardened and enlarged liver, the remedy Taraxacum may be prescribed, particularly if there are gastric problems and jaundiced skin. Taraxacum is derived from the common dandelion weed, and is used medicinally throughout the world for liver issues, particularly for its diuretic effects.

    Natrum Sulphuricum and Rumex Crispus

    • Natrum sulphuricum, also referred to as sodium sulfate, is found naturally in some saltwater lakes. In homeopathy it has several uses for liver problems, including alleviating the symptoms of gallstones and hepatitis. To stimulate and cleanse the gallbladder and liver, try the remedy Rumex crispus. More commonly referred to as Yellow Dock, it is often used to ease problems related to digestion.

    Chelidonium and Aloe ferox

    • For liver problems that involve an enlarged liver and pain, a homeopath may recommend the remedy Chelidonium. It is also referred to as Greater Celandine, wartweed and swallow wort. In homeopathy it is frequently used for treating conditions related to the liver, gallbladder, kidneys and spleen. Chelidonium is considered an herb, and although it originally was found in Europe, Asia and North Africa, the plant is now found scattered throughout North America as well. Also for symptoms associated with an enlarged liver, try the remedy aloe ferox. In ancient times, aloe was considered an all-around tonic and purgative. Although indigenous to Africa, its extensive medicinal properties make it a valued herb cultivated on a worldwide basis. Aloe is also beneficial for use for liver disorders that involve hepatitis and jaundice-type symptoms.
