Homeopathic Remedies for Shock

Shock occurs when your blood pressure decreases to a low level, and your brain and organs fail to get the oxygen they need to function properly. Shock can occur due to heavy bleeding, emotional trauma, fluid loss, bacteria in the bloodstream, heart conditions and injury. You may experience decreased blood pressure, altered awareness, exhaustion, the feeling of being cold, a change in skin coloring and difficulty breathing. There are several homeopathic remedies that can help treat the symptoms of shock.
  1. Shock in Children

    • In "Homeopathy & Your Child: A Parent's Guide to Homeopathic Treatment from Infancy Through Adolescence," Lyle W. Morgan II, a homeopathic physician, says that when a child is injured, the chances of shock are high. Dr. Morgan addresses two forms of shock in his text: psychological shock and physiological shock, and suggests the use of arnica montana for both types. This treatment should be given immediately after the child has been injured; you can give the child doses of arnica montana 200x twice in 30-minute intervals right after the child has been injured to prevent the onset of shock. You can also give your child arnica montana 6x via two to three tablets every 15 to 30 minutes until the shock symptoms subside.

    Cantharis

    • In "Homeopathy: An A to Z Home Handbook," Alan Schmukler asserts that cantharis is a homeopathic remedy that can be offered for shock caused by burns and other injuries. This treatment can be offered to an adult immediately after the injury has occurred to reduce shock symptoms; the adult can take cantharis 200c every 30 minutes until symptoms subside, at a dose of two to three tablets.

    Aconite

    • When you or another person suffers from shock and the symptoms include anxiousness, restlessness, fear and a sense of impending doom, aconite works as an effective homeopathic treatment. This treatment is equally effective in treating anxiety-related issues in general. Administer aconite 30c to an adult to treat shock symptoms; only three pellets are required.

    Carbo Veg

    • In "Practical Homeopathy," Vinton McCabe states that carbo veg is recommended for shock treatment if a person is suffering from shock, has a bluish tinge to their skin or is suffering from respiratory difficulties. Four tablets every four hours under an adult's tongue of carbo veg 6x can be offered to counter shock; children can consume two carbo veg 6x tablets for similar relief.

    Veratrum

    • If the person suffering from shock has cold sweats, nausea and vomiting, in addition to anxiety and restlessness, veratrum is recommended for treating these shock symptoms. Adults can take veratrum 30x four times daily at a dosage of four tablets. Children can consume two tablets four times daily to relieve shock symptoms.
