Homeopathic Remedies for Toothaches
When you're dealing with a toothache, there are three primary causes: tooth decay, a cavity and some bacteria in your mouth. Knowing this, let's look at some of the different homeopathic remedies for toothaches. A lot of times, if you know the underlying cause, you can end that pain easily.-
Proper Prevention
-
By taking a few simple steps, you can prevent tooth pains from ever developing. In your diet, the American Dental Association recommends limiting sugars and eating plenty of fruits and raw vegetables. Chewing on some fresh spinach leaves helps to strength the gums and prevents the teeth from decaying. Gargle regularly with hydrogen peroxide or some other mouthwash, and brush and floss daily. Finally, for children, drinking fluoridated water and foods rich in calcium promotes the growth of strong teeth.
Dealing with Pain
-
Wheat grass juice is an excellent remedy for relieving tooth pain and preventing tooth decay. If you're dealing with a sharp pain, three to four drops of vanilla extract put right on a tooth will give you some immediate relief. Another remedy is to mix bayberry bark with some vinegar and create a paste, and then apply it to the tooth; it will provide some pain relief. Another good pain relief paste is mustard oil and turmeric powder. All of these remedies ease tooth pain by deadening the nerves in the teeth. Yet another of the homeopathic remedies for toothaches is to put five grams of peppermint and a pinch of salt in a cup of water, and bring it to a boil. Let it cool enough to drink it. This remedy eases all sorts of pains, not just in the teeth.
Belladonna and Magnesia Phosphorica
-
If your toothache gets worse when you move you jaw or chew, belladonna can really help. You can either eat it in a tablet form or put a liquid type in a drink like tea. This is particularly effective if you have pain in your gums, as you can hold the liquid in your mouth, or even apply it directly to the affected area. Belladonna is actually a poison, but it's only dangerous in very high levels, and health food and alternative medicine stores sell it in very low concentrations.
When a tooth pain is associated with hot or cold food, some magnesia phosphorica is one of the best homeopathic remedies for toothaches. Take four to five pills of 9C of it, and it'll give you substantial relief; it decreases your mouth's sensitivity to temperature changes.
Dealing with Germs
-
To get rid of the germs that attack teeth, try chewing a raw onion; it'll kill all of the germs in your mouth. If that's less than appealing, any commercial mouthwash will do the same.
