Homeopathic Remedies for Earaches

Earaches can caused by a number of factors such as a head cold, a change in atmospheric pressure or from exostosis-related problems, commonly referred to as "surfers ear," an overgrowth of bones in the ear canal caused by long-term exposure to cold water. Homeopathic remedies can be useful in helping to alleviate the pain and discomfort often associated with mild earaches. Homeopathic remedies are extremely diluted, yet potent: a C dose means that it has been diluted 100 times; an X does signifies it has been diluted 10 times.

  1. Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum

    • For acute ear pain, homeopaths will sometimes prescribe a 6C dose of Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum when physical symptoms are better upon being in warmth and when the head is kept warm, and worse when exposed to drafts and cold air, when the ear is touched or when lying down on the side of the body which is affected. Generally, the further indication that Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum is a properly recommended remedy is when the individual personality traits include extreme irritability and anger with an abundance of emotional sensitivity.

    Pulsatilla

    Iodum

    • A 6C dose of the remedy Iodum is often recommended by homeopaths for earaches with accompanying physical symptoms that are better in cold conditions and worse when around heat, during night and upon resting. Further indication that the remedy Iodum is warranted is when the other accompanying personality symptoms are a general tendency toward restlessness and overexcitability.
