1
Decide whether it is safe to self-prescribe a homeopathic remedy. Take into consideration if you are on any medications, how much experience you have and the severity of your ailment. Consult a licensed homeopath if you are at all unsure.
-
2
Acquire a reputable remedy list that covers a wide variety of ailments. The Encyclopedia of Homeopathy is a good choice.
-
3
Identify your symptoms. Describe the characteristics of the symptoms and make notes of them. Include any secondary manifestations, such as state of mind. An example would be developing a fever after becoming wet and chilled.
-
4
Make a checklist or diagram sorting the most obvious physical symptoms, lesser symptoms, characteristics (location, frequency, sudden onset, etc.), psychological symptoms, obvious causes and any conditions that make the symptoms better or worse.
-
5
Compare your symptoms to remedies, matching them as closely as possible. Read all accompanying data, including cautions and warnings. ABC Homeopathy and Homeopathy Home (see Resources) have free online remedy finders as well as online stores. Many drugstores now sell homeopathic remedies and some pharmacies specialize in them. Health food stores are another source to check.

6
Obtain or prepare your chosen remedy. Many online retailers offer homeopathic remedies. Be sure to verify shipping and handling fees before making a purchase online.
