Homeopathic Remedies for ED

Erectile dysfunction, or ED, affects most men at some point in their lives. The problem may be temporary or ongoing, and can be physiological, psychological or both. Homeopathic remedies are an excellent choice for treating ED because they can address both physical and mental symptoms which may be contributing to the problem. Homeopathic remedies are safe and can be used in addition to other treatments you may be trying.
  1. Using Homeopathic Remedies

    • When choosing a homeopathic remedy, find the one that most closely matches all of your symptoms. Take three 30C pellets of the remedy every 2 to 3 hours for a maximum of three doses, or as directed by your homeopathic practitioner. If a remedy hasn't worked after that period of time, make a different remedy choice. Taking the wrong remedy will not have any negative effects. Usually one course of homeopathic treatment is sufficient to resolve a problem.

    Remedy Choices

    • Agnus castus is appropriate for men who have had an active sex life (frequency and intensity) for a number of years before their ED problems began. They may have a cold sensation in their genitals and be anxious about their health. If your erection fails when you attempt sexual intercourse, then the remedy Argentum nitricum is the better choice. Use this remedy if thinking about the problem makes it worse and you are nervous and imaginative; you may also be craving sweet and salty foods. If your ED problems are rooted in a loss of self-confidence and worry, your energy slumps in the late afternoon and evening, and you are troubled by bloating, gas and memory loss, then Lycopodium is the correct remedy choice. A person who will benefit from Lycopodium may mask his lack of self-confidence by trying to overcompensate.

Men who are gentle, quiet and sensitive may benefit from Staphysagria. ED in these men may be caused by shyness or embarrassment. These men may have suffered some form of abuse (physical, sexual, mental or emotional) and have trouble standing up for themselves; they may tend to suppress their emotions. If the desire is there, but there is no erection, then Caladium is the remedy to choose. Men who will benefit from Caladium may have nocturnal emissions even when having nonsexual dreams and may crave tobacco. If sexual urges have lessened along with physical pleasure, the remedy Causticum is called for. A man who will benefit from Causticum may feel weak and tired, may have memory problems, may have problems with urine loss when sneezing or coughing, may have prostate problems and may have some obsessive tendencies (checking to see if doors are locked, for example). If ED problems began following an exhaustive illness or fever, and interest is still present, the remedy Selenium metallicum should be used. A man who will benefit from Selenium metallicum may be slow to respond sexually, have weak or insufficient erections and unusual hair loss.

    Other Considerations

    • In addition to the above remedies which specifically address symptoms of ED, you should consider your health as a whole. If you are suffering from other health concerns, addressing those issues will also benefit you. This may mean improving your diet, exercising more, dealing with chronic medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes, or using additional homeopathic remedies to treat underlying conditions.
