Did gregor in metamorphosis have pneumonia?

Gregor in Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" does not have pneumonia. He undergoes a strange transformation where he wakes up one morning to find himself turned into a giant insect-like creature. The cause of his transformation is never explicitly explained in the story.
