How to Reprogram the Subconscious Mind

The subconscious is a mysterious place in our mind where our deepest thoughts and dreams are. It's also a place where bad habits can develop and manifest in our conscious mind due to the assimilation of personal experiences that shape who we are. All of that can be reprogrammed with disciplined techniques of visualization and forms of meditation. And you don't need a psychotherapist to help you become a better person and achieve goals to get what you want.

Instructions

  1. Visualization Techniques

    • 1

Lie down somewhere, close your eyes and visualize a particular goal you want to reach. It's best to do this in bed right before you get up in the morning and right before you go to bed at night. Your subconscious is most receptive when you're at your most relaxed state of mind.

    • 2

Imagine your visualizations in a way that makes them feel as if they're happening now. A goal imagined to be happening in the present will get assimilated into your subconscious and help give you a stronger drive to achieve that dream.

    • 3

Make your visualizations as clear as possible so you'll know exactly what your goals will be. If you want something bad enough, you'll know exactly what the details are. Visual yourself acting out these details and do this twice a day for about ten minutes per session.

    Positive Notes and Thinking

    • 4

Write positive affirmations about yourself on pieces of paper, or state them out loud when nobody is around. Do this for present situations you have in your life that aren't positive and write a statement stating it as positive as if in the present. This deflects your subconscious from assimilating these situations and branding them as negative.

    • 5

Choose more than one positive statement about yourself or a goal you want to reach. Anywhere from three to five affirmations in one session can make up the bulk of your goals and things you want to change in the immediate term. Write them down or repeat them to yourself several times a day, every day.

    • 6

Find relaxing times during the day to repeat your positive statements and affirmations. For a busy person, this could be during the lunch hour or break times. Continue to visualize or say aloud your affirmations first thing in the morning or right before going to bed at night so the subconscious can absorb them.

    Meditation

    • 7

Use meditation techniques to help shape your subconscious for more positive outcomes in your life. Lie down in a comfortable spot, close your eyes and breathe through your nose very slowly.

    • 8

Focus on your breathing and count to one while breathing in. Count to two when exhaling. Keep meditating for about 10 minutes in a place you know won't have distractions. Do this daily for same amount of time and it can help remove stress and negative thoughts from creeping into your subconscious.

    • 9

Find meditation CDs online or in your local CD store. These can help guide you through meditation techniques if you have trouble relaxing to do the techniques yourself. Many of these CDs use a combination of music as well as relaxing narration.

    Alternate Techniques

    • 10

Try hypnosis as an alternate if you have trouble finding time for the other techniques. Look for an accredited, professional hypnotist in your local phone book to help you. If you can find time, buy a hypnosis CD that works the same way meditation CD's do.

    • 11

Buy a subliminal message CD, video or software that sends hidden positive messages through music into your subconscious. Subliminal software, particularly, is a new and interesting way to feed your subconscious with healthy thoughts while working on your computer.

    • 12

Look into using the Sedona Method, which is a technique that helps you eliminate negative beliefs about yourself. The program helps you attain new, positive beliefs into your subconscious mind that can reshape your thinking in a short amount of time.

    • 13

HypnoSoft is a self-directed hypnosis available over the Internet. You create your own custom-made hypnosis that deals directly with your specific concerns and interests. It is easiest to reprogram you subconscious when the hypnosis is created specifically for you.
