How to Use Powdered Propolis

Propolis is found in the hives of bees. Its function in the beehive is to act as an adhesive, basically gluing the honeycombs together. It is composed of resins from the plants that pollen has been collected from, wax and volatile oils.

Instructions

  1. Propolis Water Extract

      Weigh out 50 grams of propolis powder. Filter some tap water using a water filter and measure out half a liter (500ml) of filtered water.

      Pour the half liter of filtered water into a pan and bring to a boil. Pour in 30 grams of propolis powder.

      After allowing the mixture to cool, pour through a cheesecloth to remove solid matter.

      Pour the filtered liquid into a plastic bottle and store in the refrigerator.

      Take 15ml of extract a day to clear up ailments such as cold sores and conjunctivitis.

    Propolis Tincture

      Weigh 233 grams or measure 278ml of 100 percent alcohol. Weigh 100 grams of propolis powder.

      Combine the 100 grams propolis powder and 233 grams/278 ml 100 percent alcohol in a pint mason jar.

      Place the mason jar into a brown paper bag and store in a dark warm place. Shake two to three times daily.

      After two to three weeks, strain the mixture through a coffee filter or cheesecloth.

      The mixture is now ready for use and can be stored in the pint jar. Use the tincture to treat wounds or burns. It can also be taken orally for asthma relief, anti-diabetic action and as an antibiotic. Propolis has also been shown to boost the immune system, prevent the growth of tumors and prevent the growth of plaque on teeth.
