Homemade Scar Removal
-
Prepare the Skin Internally
-
The first step is to prepare your body for the scar healing process with vitamins and minerals. If you have an injury that may scar, or a scar that is already present, vitamin E will stop the production of more scar tissue. Take 15 international units of the vitamin each morning, and apply it topically to your scarring skin if there is no broken skin present. Vitamin C helps restore collagen and other connective tissues related to scar tissue. Take 500 milligrams of the vitamin, coupled with bioflavonoids, to increase tissue healing and the repair of all wounds. The minerals silica and zinc can improve certain aspects of skin healing and work as great compliments to the other vitamins. Both minerals can be taken as part of multivitamins or alone in tablet form. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables and nuts can add to the effects of the vitamins and minerals.
Use Homeopathic Remedies
-
Different homeopathic remedies treat different types of scars. If you can orally utilize the appropriate remedy, you can help stimulate your body further to heal your scar tissue. Calcarea fluorica (Calc. fluor.) is used to help scars formed via injury that may be stony hard, white, cracked, dry, and painful. The scars may be itchy and form keloids. Causticum is used for scar tissue that has formed from burns. When inflammation, burning, pain and itching are involved, Graphites may be the appropriate remedy. Especially if ulcers and tumors develop from the site of the tissue. Phytolacca is used on scar tissue in the breast area that affects the tendons and stiffens the muscles. Silicea (homeopathic silica) can relieve keloids that have a shiny appearance and are accompanied by brittle bones and oozing pus. Use the appropriate remedy at 3x potency (where x is equal to ten times the standard homeopathic potency) or consult a licensed homeopath for proper dosage.
Topical Herbal Salves
-
Once you have prepped your skin internally, you can now ensure that your topical remedies will be more successful. Begin by massaging aloe vera gel into your old scar tissue. This will begin to heal the tissue and restore any dryness and relieve some hardening. The horsetail herb can begin to restore some of the destroyed tissue when taken in a tincture form or as poultice. Form a paste with horsetail powder and powdered comfrey herb with water and leave it on overnight to treat the scarring. Horsetail is a potent source of silica and it can be taken in capsule form or as a tea to further supplement the healing. Create a potent salve for surgery scars using calendula (marigold) herb, coconut butter and olive oil. Heat a quarter cup of coconut butter in a large pan and add the fresh leaves and stems of the calendula. Let the mixture foam up before covering and leaving it to cool overnight. The next day warm the pain, strain the fat away, and spread the concoction on a cotton cloth and tie it around the scarred area, changing it every day. To store it, you can add five tablespoons of olive oil and put it in a glass container in the refrigerator.
