1
Create your own acne scrub with kosher salt, lemon juice and honey. Instead of buying one of those expensive acne scrubs at the drugstore, this homemade scrub will exfoliate and sterilize your skin. It may be a little sticky, but you will get used to it once you see the wonders it will do on your skin. Mix two parts honey with one part kosher salt. Mix well. Add a splash of lemon juice and mix again. No need to refrigerate your homemade acne scrub, just keep it covered by the sink. Use the scrub for two minutes when you wake up and before you go to bed. Rinse well with hot water and a clean washcloth after using.

Use hydrogen peroxide as toner. After cleansing your face with the homemade acne scrub listed above, use a cotton ball to dab hydrogen peroxide on your face. Avoid your eyebrows, as it will bleach them with extended use. Hydrogen peroxide is a natural astringent and disinfectant and it is safe to leave on your skin after applying.

Cool down irritated pimples with ice cubes and crushed aspirin. If you have one swollen pimple that will not go away, zap it with an ice cube for 30 seconds to one minute. Then, crush an aspirin to make a fine powder, and add a few drops of water. Mix until you get a fine paste, then apply directly to the pimple. Leave on for a few hours or overnight to reduce swelling and redness.

Keep your hair out of your face. If you have long hair, nothing is more detrimental to acne-prone skin than long hair or bangs. Try to wear a headband or a hair tie to keep hair from falling into your face. The oils in your hair contain additional bacteria that will make your face break out.

Always keep a large water bottle next to you. One of the easiest ways to promote healthy skin is by drinking lots of water. Ideally, you should be refilling your water bottle several times daily and drinking the equivalent of at least 64 ounces of water a day.

Avoid touching your face after washing it and change your pillowcase daily. Once you wash your face, keep your hands off. When you're going to sleep, be sure you use a new pillowcase every night. If that means you have to purchase 50 pillowcases, do so. It's very important to rest your clean face on a clean surface, instead of the oily, bacteria-ridden surface from the night before. The cleaner you keep your face, the fewer acne problems you'll have.
