Natural Remedies for Prevention of Hair Growth on Legs
Preventing unwanted hair growth is something that both men and women would love to do. For women especially, one of the areas where hair growth is most unwelcome is the legs, the frequent shaving of which can be a drudgery--year after year. There aren't, however, many natural remedies available for preventing hair growth.-
Wax
-
While technically a hair remover, regular waxing can help you keep hair from growing on your legs for several weeks. The reason is that, unlike shaving, waxing results in the pulling of the deeper part of the hair out of the pore--removing much more of it. Think of it like pulling weeds out by the roots. The hair will, however, grow back, necessitating additional waxing treatments. For people on a budget who don't want to buy expensive chemicals, waxing is natural and an effective way to prevent the quick return of leg hair.
Electrolysis
-
Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal technique aside from laser hair removal. In electrolysis a needle is placed into the pore and an electrical charge is sent into the follicle to kill the hair. Because this process is done one hair at a time, completion of successful electrolysis takes several sessions. Some home-use kits are available, but it's best to seek professional help to ensure permanent results. Again, this uses only electricity and no chemicals to kill the hair and prevent its return.
Medications
-
Though not a natural remedy, one of the only ways discovered to prevent hair growth is via prescription medication. These inhibitors are taken orally and alter the way your body processes testosterone. Since leg hair growth is partially the responsibility of testosterone, the drug prevents this hormone from doing its job. One result of this inhibition is that your leg hair doesn't grow back as often, if it grows back at all. These drugs aren't available over the counter, however, and there aren't herbal or natural supplements available that can claim similar results.
