Canadian Research of Vitamin C for Pain

Vitamin C is an organic molecule that boosts the body’s immunity against disease, fights off the common flu and reduces pain in diseases such as cancer, gout and arthritis. Vitamin C also erects a wall against the invasion of infection by viruses and cancer-causing (carcinogenic) agents. Canadian researchers have concluded through exhaustive studies that vitamin C has positive effects in alleviating pain on suffering patients.
  1. Hoffer Studies

    • Canadian scientist Abram Hoffer discovered in a study how vitamin C is effective against combating pain in cancer patients in Canada and actually adds to the potential longevity of the patient. Using mega dosages of intravenous vitamin C, Hoffer has reported that “vitamin C must be a vital component of every cancer treatment program … adding 20 to 30 per cent to longevity.” His cancer patients who suffered excruciating pain would experience a marked decrease in symptoms. Hoffer conducted studies since in the 1950s which revealed that arthritis can be reduced by higher intakes of vitamin C.

    Canadian Medical Association Studies

    • Cancer patients can experience excruciating pain.

The Canadian Medical Association Journal in March 2006 published a study showing that vitamin C injections in the bloodstream fight off the cancer cells while leaving the good tissue unaffected. The reason is that according to the researchers, vitamin C raises levels of hydrogen peroxide, which empowers the fighting cells to reduce cancer tumors and toxicity.

    Arthritis Relief

    • Another Canadian study conducted in 1979 revealed that large doses of vitamin C completely removed the arthritic cells. Another vitamin C-based investigation published in the fall 2009 edition of Canadian Health shows that excessive amounts of uric acid lodged in the joints dropped when water and vitamin C were ingested, resulting in fewer arthritic attacks.

    Relief of Gout

    • Gout, which is another version of severe arthritis, has a direct relationship with vitamin C. A study done by H.K Choi and G. Curhan of the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada has shown that the proneness to contract gout is radically decreased when at least 500 mg of vitamin C is taken. Statistics from the study disclose that almost 20 percent of men taking vitamin C were less likely to catch gout.

    A Natural Remedy

    • Vitamin C is a natural remedy against pain--an alternative to chemotherapy and medicinal pain killers. The effectiveness of vitamin C ultimately will differ from patient to patient, but its benefits to the body are supported by scientific research.
