How to Care for Infrared Sauna Wood

Infrared saunas were designed for detoxing the body, and they come in all different sizes. These types of saunas were originally made from cedar. Because cedar has a natural tolerance for high heat and water--and because it's able to withstand the elements very well--it is the ideal material for saunas. Infrared sauna wood needs to be cleaned often to remove toxins, dirt, grime and perspiration. This is very simple to do. However, this is only one step in maintaining your Infrared Sauna.

• Bucket
• Mild detergent
• Soft sponge

  Put 5 to 7 drops of mild detergent inside of a bucket.

  Fill the bucket with warm water.

  Drop the sponge in the water.

  Pick up all debris and objects that are covering the wood in your sauna. You can leave the heater, but towels, trash and decorations need to be removed.

  Gently scrub the wood with the mild detergent solution.

• 6

  Use a soft, absorbent towel to dry up excess water. Open the door and windows to air out and fully dry the wood.

  Replace decorations.
