How to Remove Carbon From Carbonated Water
Things You'll Need
- Carbonated water
- Saucepan
- Stove or hotplate
- Bottle, jar or other heat-resistant container with lid

Open the bottle if using bottled carbonated water; the drop in pressure will cause some of the dissolved carbon dioxide to bubble up and escape. Pour the carbonated water into a saucepan. The agitation caused by pouring will shake more of the trapped carbon dioxide loose and cause the carbonated water to further effervesce.

Heat the carbonated water until the effervescence stops and the water boils. Stir the carbonated water to hasten the off-gassing process; however, by the time it reaches a rolling boil, the gases dissolved in the water will have driven off, leaving the water and any minerals, flavorings, etc. which have been added in the saucepan.

Pour the hot water into a jar or a bottle. Put a cap on the bottle to keep it from reabsorbing carbon dioxide from the air as it cools.
