DIY Detox
A detoxification process may become necessary for many reasons. Overindulgence in food, alcohol or drugs is a common reason a person would seek out a method of detoxification but it could also be to simply feel better or for religious reasons. You can detoxify your body in myriad ways, from drinks and diets to spa therapy. Some of these programs are often expensive. You can try cheaper ways to detox from the comfort of your own home.-
Diet

One way of implementing a do-it-yourself detox program at home is to make changes in your diet. This works best if you do it for one to two weeks. Begin the first day significantly cutting down the amount of food and drink items that have a negative impact on your body. Cut down your intake of sugar and caffeine. Drink at least three liters of water per day. Each day continue to drop the things that are bad for you from your diet and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables until the last days of your detox program have you eating only that and drinking fresh pure water.
Fast

Another way to execute an effective detox program is to fast. Fasting can be done anywhere from three days to a week and be effective. Begin your first day of fasting by drinking eight to 10 glasses of fresh, pure water and cutting all foods down to only fresh fruit and vegetables. After this first day you will begin only drinking water, organic fruit juices and clear broths. Continue this process for the desired number of days. When your fasting period ends, eat simple foods the first day such as fruits, vegetables and salads.
Detoxing with Herbs

Many herbs have detoxification properties. Making them into teas, eating them raw and other methods can prove beneficial as a detox programs. The type of herb that you use will have a different type of cleansing effect. Some multipurpose herbs that can detox are fennel seeds, papaya, fenugreek and ginger root. While not concentrating on a certain organ for detoxification, these herbs, plants and fruits will have a more overall effect on toxins in the body as a whole.
