How to Make Organic Reusable Wipes
Parents go through dozens of wipes every day thanks to dirty faces and soiled diapers. Unfortunately, the majority of wipes available are disposable, which means they end up in the landfill after a single use. Save money spent on disposable wipes as you decrease the amount of garbage piling up on Earth by using organic reusable wipes. By making your own wipes you are also ensuring that you and your child are exposed to organic items rather than a list of chemicals that are found in disposable wipes.Things You'll Need
- 24 organic cotton baby washcloths
- 2 adult-size organic cotton towels (optional)
- 2 cups filtered water
- 1 tbsp. all-natural organic liquid soap, such as liquid castile soap
- 3 drops organic lavender oil
- Organic vitamin E capsule
- 8-by-6-by-6-inch glass containers with lids
- 8-by-6-by-6-inch BPA-free plastic container with lid
- Large bucket or bowl
- Gallon-sized plastic zipper-top bag (optional)

1
Fold 24 organic cotton baby washcloths in half lengthwise. Cut two adult-size organic cotton towels into 24 washcloths instead of purchasing baby washcloths, if desired. Stack the folded washcloths together.
-
2
Pour 2 cups of filtered water, 1 tbsp. all-natural organic liquid soap and 3 drops of organic lavender oil into an 8-by-6-by-6-inch glass, or BPA-free plastic container, with a fitted lid. Squeeze the oil of one organic vitamin E capsule into the liquid; stir to combine.
-
3
Place the stack of washcloths into the soap mixture. Push the cloths slowly into the container so they can absorb the liquid without forcing the liquid out of the container.
-
4
Add the soiled wipes to a large bucket or bowl. Soak the used wipes in all-natural organic liquid soap to loosen the stains; follow directions on the container for how much soap to add. Scrub the wipes by hand or in a washing machine.
-
5
Change the water in the wipes container every three days.
-
6
Fill a gallon-sized plastic zipper-top bag with wipes and the soap mixture when traveling away from your home for a few hours; you do not want to overfill the bag, which can cause leaking, so limit the number of wipes to six and only add enough water to keep them moist. Use the glass or plastic container for storing wipes if you are traveling away from your home for more than one day.
