What is an excited neuron?
An excited neuron is a neuron that has been stimulated and is in the process of transmitting a signal to another neuron. This process is called neural transmission, and it involves the release of neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft, which is the space between two neurons. The neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, which causes the postsynaptic neuron to become excited. This process can then be repeated, allowing for the transmission of signals over long distances.
