Where can I take the EMT test?

You can take the EMT test at an approved testing center. To find an approved testing center, you can contact your local EMS agency or visit the website of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

The NREMT is the organization that administers the EMT test. To be eligible to take the EMT test, you must meet certain requirements, such as being at least 18 years old, having a high school diploma or equivalent, and completing an EMT training program that meets the NREMT's standards.

Once you have met the requirements and found an approved testing center, you can register for the EMT test. The test fee is $80. You will need to bring your photo ID and proof of training to the testing center.

The EMT test consists of 120 multiple-choice questions. You will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the test. To pass the test, you must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly.

If you pass the EMT test, you will be issued an EMT certification. EMT certification is valid for two years. To maintain your certification, you must complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years.
