How to Make Your Affirmations Happen Fast

Affirmations are the words and statements you think to yourself or say aloud. Positive affirmations are short positive statements you say to yourself to change your negative beliefs. Examples are "I will lose weight; I am happy; I am calm." The amount of time it takes for positive affirmations to achieve results depends on the time, focus, faith and feelings you invest in repeating your affirmations, the strength of your desire and the size of your goal. There are steps you can take to achieve results faster.

Stand in front of a mirror or hold a mirror in front of your face. Look yourself in the eye. Repeat your positive affirmation statements while maintaining the eye contact in the mirror. Do this a few times a day to achieve faster results.

    • 2

Write the positive affirmations on note cards. Leave the cards around the house in places you will likely see them, such as hanging on the bathroom mirror or lying beside your car keys. This provides reminders for you to say your positive affirmations regularly. You may also write them repeatedly on a sheet of paper, 10 or 20 times, to imprint the messages in your mind.

Sing your positive affirmations. The mind accepts messages more readily when they are sung. You may also chant them if you are uncomfortable singing. Sing them whenever you feel like it. For example, you may choose to sing your affirmations aloud or silently to yourself in the car, while getting ready for work, in the shower or while running on a treadmill.

Play a subliminal message CD. Listen to it in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed for several minutes. Listen several times daily to hasten the effect. These CDs -- available for purchase from many retail media stores -- typically target a specific type of affirmation such as health, romance, weight loss and happiness. Choose the one that is the most appropriate for your needs and listen to it frequently throughout the day to improve the effect.
