What is the use of novolaX medicine?
NovoxlaX (Generic Name: Semaglutide) is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used injectable medicine to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
NovoXalX treats two types of type 2 diabetes:
1. Used alone when metformin is not advised or well tolerated.
2. It is used along with metformin when oral diabetes medicine doesn't provide enough glucose control.
How does NovoXalX work?
- NovoXalX works similar to a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that controls the sugar levels in the body.
- It slows digestion, which causes a slower rise in blood sugar levels after eating.
- It allows the body to produce more insulin when blood sugar is high.
- It stops the liver from producing too much glucose,
Do not use NovoXalX if:
- You have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (increased ketones in urine or blood).
- You are allergic to NovoXalX, its ingredients, or any other GLP-1 medicines.
- You have a personal or family history of a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
- You have severe kidney or liver disease.
How to use NovoXalX?
- Use NovoXalX according to your doctor's instructions.
- NovoXalX is usually given once weekly as a subcutaneous (under the skin) injection.
- Your blood sugar should be monitored regularly, and your doctor may recommend adjusting the dose of NovoXalX based on your response.
- The injection site should be rotated to avoid skin irritation.
- NovoXalX can be taken once weekly, at any time of day, with or without meals.
Side Effects:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, headache, dizziness, and injection site reactions (such as pain, swelling, or redness).
Before using NovoXalX:
- Inform your doctor about all the medical conditions you have or have had, including any kidney, liver, thyroid, or stomach-related problems, and any allergies to medicines or foods.
- Tell your doctor about all medications, vitamins, herbal products, or supplements you take.
During pregnancy or breastfeeding, only use NovoXalX if clearly advised by your doctor.
Precautions:
- NovoXalX can lower blood sugar levels, so you should be aware of the symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which may include shaking, sweating, hunger, dizziness, and confusion. If you experience these symptoms, eat or drink something containing sugar right away.
- NovoXalX may cause nausea and vomiting, especially when you start using it. Your doctor may recommend taking over-the-counter anti-nausea medications to relieve these side effects.
- NovoXalX may slow the rate at which food empties from your stomach. This can cause indigestion and a feeling of fullness.
- NovoXalX may cause changes in your vision. If you experience any changes in your vision, talk to your doctor.
Storage:
- Keep NovoXalX in its original container, protected from light and moisture.
- Do not freeze NovoXalX.
- Discard any unused NovoXalX after the expiration date.
