1
Choose a teapot that has a spout small enough to fit into one of your nostrils. Before using the teapot, thoroughly clean it as you do not want to introduce any irritants or contaminants into your nasal passages. The teapot can be any material such as metal, ceramic or glass and it is not necessary for it to have a lid.

2
Warm 16 ozs. of distilled water in the microwave or on the stove. The water should be lukewarm so it does not burn you as you irrigate. Stir in 1 tsp. of table salt until completely dissolved. Distilled water is the best choice because it is devoid of impurities and minerals.

3
Fill the teapot with the warm saline solution. Do not fill to the top because it will spill over as you pour the solution into your nose.

4
Stand near a sink. Tilt your head forward and with one nostril higher than the other. Insert the spout of the teapot into the higher nostril and and slowly pour the solution into your nose. As you pour, the fluid will run out of the other nostril.
