How to Use the Bio Tuner as a TENS Unit

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) units look a bit like something from science fiction. They use electrical current to stimulate muscles and nerves, causing the muscles to contract and helping deactivate overactive nerves. This process helps diminish chronic pain associated with arthritis, neuropathy, myoneuropathy and a variety of pain conditions. The Bio Tuner from Sota Instruments uses a similar system to promote relaxation and may be used in a similar manner to a TENS unit.

• Bio Tuner
• 9-volt battery
• Electroconductive gel

  Remove the battery cover from the rear of a Bio Tuner.

• 2

  Insert a 9-volt battery into the battery compartment so the "+" and "-" markings on the battery align with those on the unit. Replace the battery cover.

  Insert the plug end of the Bio Tuner headset into the jack at the base of the unit.

  Apply a small amount of electroconductive gel to the area of your body you wish to stimulate.

  Press both sides of the Bio Tuner headset against the gel on the area.

  Activate the unit and adjust the amount of current by rotating the On/Off knob clockwise.
