How to Make Gelatin Capsules
As knowledge of alternative medicine grows, many health enthusiasts are beginning to make their own gelatin capsules to provide their daily supplements or other natural ingredients they believe necessary to maintain their health. Making your own capsules is quite simple, and can be cost effective as well. To make the pills, you will need a capping kit as well as some supplements and powders to get a good final result. The capsules can then be stored in a plastic bottle and kept like store-bought medicine.Things You'll Need
- Capping machine (capping kit for size "0")
- Empty capsules ("0" gelatin capsules)
- Dextrose (also called glucose)
- Supplement powder (DHEA)

1
Use the capping kit to make 50 capsules at a time. Each capsule will hold approximately 400 mg, which means you will want approximately 20 grams of dextrose/filler and 2500 mg of DHEA or another supplement to fill your 50 capsules.

Measure out these two powders on a medicinal scale. Do not guesstimate, as these pills will be ingested. Take the measurements of Dextrose and DHEA (or other chosen supplement) and mix the two powders together. Do this by putting them into a sealed container and shaking vigorously for three to four minutes.

3
Layer the top plate of your capping machine on the bottom plate while turning the spacers so there is a small gap between the two plates. Open an empty gelatin capsule and place it lengthwise into the top plate holes. Fill all 50 holes and then fill the halves with the powder mixture. Release the spacers so the top plate goes down flatly onto the bottom plate.

4
Place the short halves of the capsules onto the filled capsules, pressing firmly so they are fused together securely. Then simply turn your capping machine upside down and pour the loosened capsules into a plastic container. Pull out any that stick to the machine. Store your capsules in a safe, dry location.
