Achieve results close to that of brand name instant hand sanitizers like Purell or Germ-X by mixing together one part of aloe gel to 2 parts of isopropyl alcohol (91%). An article in the "Emerging Infectious Diseases" journal states it is necessary that the minimum alcohol concentration exceed sixty percent. Pour into empty recycled plastic bottles.

Mix together 4 ounces of aloe vera gel with 20 drops of essential oils, such as tea tree, peppermint, lavender and nightingale for a variation on instant hand sanitizer. The addition of essential oils helps the sanitizer to not be so drying. Pour the solution into empty recycled plastic bottles.
