Uses of Vicks Salve
You probably can look back on your childhood when you were sick, and your Mom rubbed that icky mentholated goop on your chest. The smell was terrible and seemed to fill up the whole room, but you could breathe better. Vicks salve, also known as Vicks VapoRub, has been around since 1890. Through the years, multiple uses have been found for Vicks aside from simply relieving chest congestion.-
Relieve Toenail Fungus
-
Many people have reported that applying Vicks VapoRub to toenail fungus helps to get ride of it. It is generally suggested to rub a little bit of the salve on and around your nail bed. It takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to start seeing improvement in your toenail.
Soften Callouses on Feet
-
Some people have found Vicks useful to soften their callouses and rough heels. Simply rub a thick layer onto the bottom of your feet at bedtime, put socks on and start seeing results. Putting Vicks on the bottom of your feet also seems to help relieve coughing.
Chapped Lips
-
Vicks has helped relieve chapped lips for many users, and it also helps heal tiny open cracks from dry lips as well. Be careful not to lick your lips when using Vicks; however, it is not meant to be ingested.
Paper Cuts
-
Vicks is said to help with minor, superficial paper cuts. Paper cuts can sting badly, and Vicks salve helps to relieve the sting and heal the cut faster.
