Using Emu Oil as a Basic Transdermal Carrier Oil
-
1
Apply a single drop of Pure Emu Oil to the back of your hand. A small amount of Emu oil can cover a large area, so use it sparingly. Let the oil sit until absorbed to determine if your skin reacts favorably with the oil.
-
2
Choose an essential oil or combination of oils specific to your intended use. If multiple essential oils are being used, mix them separately to insure that the aroma is pleasant and no unintended clashes are present.
-
3
Warm an ounce of Emu Oil gently to about skin temperature or slightly higher. Add the combination of essential oils slowly by drops, evaluating the potency of the scent with each addition. When you are satisfied with the scent, pour the scented Emu oil into a small jar with a tight seal.
-
4
Label any essential oils combined with carrier oils with the specific ingredients and the date of creation, as carrier oils can become rancid and useless over time.
-
5
To use your oil, pour a small amount of oil onto the palm of your hand, allowing it to warm and the scent to fill the air. Use your hands to apply to the selected area of your body, but don't rub the oil into the skin as the Emu oil will penetrate the skin on its own. If your skin feels oily after application, reduce the amount applied.
