How to Kinesio Tape a Patella Knee for Patellofemoral Pain
Patellofemoral pain, also known as runner's knee, is an ache in the knee brought about by intense physical activity. Kinesio tape is a wrap designed specifically for active bodies and can be used to help alleviate pain associated with many athletic injuries. Wrapping a knee to help with patellofemoral pain requires just one piece of tape and can be completed in only a few minutes before beginning an activity.Things You'll Need

Instructions

1
Cut a piece of kinesio tape approximately one foot long.
-
2
Fold one end of the kinesio tape down to the other end, so that the two ends align. Do not crease the fold or remove the nonstick backing.
-
3
Cut a rounded edge to the ends of the kinesio tape, starting about a half inch from the end on the right side, curling up to the midpoint of the end, and then curling back down to a half inch from the end on the left side.
-
4
Allow the tape to unfold and cut a split down the center of the tape, starting at one end and continuing for approximately 10 inches.
-
5
Sit down on a flat surface and slightly flex the knee to which the tape will be applied, so that there is just enough space between the knee and ground to slide a hand through.
-
6
Peel off the nonstick backing and secure the base of the split just below the kneecap.
-
7
Take the split in the tape that passes on the inside of the kneecap and wrap it around the kneecap then up toward the hip in a straight line.
-
8
Wrap the split in the tape that passes on the outside of the kneecap around the cap then toward the inside of the leg, so that the tip crosses just over the inside piece of tape.
