How to Make Homemade Deodorants Using Natural Ingredients
Deodorants are used to block the odor that occurs when odorless sweat interacts with bacteria on the skin, most often on the hands and feet or under the arms. Because antiperspirants, which interfere with the body's ability to release sweat and control body temperature, are often combined with deodorants in manufactured products, natural products are often preferred.Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Cornstarch
- Washcloth
- Witch hazel
- Sage
- Essential oils

1
Combine baking soda and cornstarch in equal amounts (e.g., 1/2 cup of each), then pour the mixture onto a damp washcloth and apply it to the affected area, such as under the arms. Do not wipe off the mixture; it will absorb sweat and prevent any odor.

2
Dry the affected area, such as between the toes, and apply astringents, or drying agents, to prevent sweat buildup after it is released from the skin. Two examples of astringents are witch hazel and sage.

3
Mask the odor by applying essential oils, such as lavender, directly to the skin as perfume.
