How to Use Coal Tar Soap

Coal tar, known for its antiseptic qualities, has been used in dermatology for more than 100 years. While its use has been sharply curtailed with the introduction of topical steroids, coal tar still is used in soaps, shampoos and ointments to treat psoriasis, acne, eczema and various other skin disorders. It may not be a cure, but it relieves the symptoms, including itchiness.
