1
Break off an aloe plant leaf at the base. This succulent plant contains a soothing gel that will help relieve itching and discomfort from insect bites, rashes, and sunburns. Aloe also moisturizes, making it effective on itching due to dry skin.
-
2
Squeeze the aloe leaf to extract the gel and apply it directly onto the itchy skin. If using a long leaf, you'll want to break the leaf into several pieces so you can extract the gel easily.
-
3
Allow the aloe gel to air dry on your skin. Avoid contact with clothing or furniture while the gel dries.
-
4
Place several ice cubes inside a Ziploc bag and add water until the bag is approximately half full. Zip the bag closed. If available, a reusable ice pack is a good alternative.
-
5
Apply the cold compress to the itchy area for a period of 20 minutes. The cold will eliminate itching and reduce the swelling that's often associated with bug bites.
-
6
Repeat these steps as needed to relieve itching.
