Pectin, a natural extract found in plant cells, can reduce pain in your joints caused by arthritis. A thickening agent used in making jellies and jams, pectin is essentially a group of white complex carbohydrates found in ripe fruits and vegetables, according to "The Columbia Encyclopedia." These fruits include peaches, apples, currants and plums.
Although there are no official studies to prove its efficiency, pectin-infused Certo has been used to reduce swelling in joints. Found in any grocery store, this product uses grapefruit, apple and citrus pectin and is used as a gelling agent in many food industries.
